Courts can be built specifically for pickleball or converted from existing tennis or badminton courts.

History

Pickleball was invented in 1965 on Bainbridge Island, a short drive from Seattle, Washington. Three fathers - Joel Pritchard, Bill Bell and Barney McCallum - whose children were bored with their usual summer activities - are credited for creating the games. Pickleball has evolved from original handmade equipment and simple rules into a popular sport in the U.S. and Canada. The game is also growing internationally, with many European and Asian countries joining in.
